A summarised entry

I am guilty of this.. have not been blogging for the past dunno how many months, since I lost some 20 over entries...

Kids kids... they grow up too fast.. Dylan is already a year old and Rachel is three years old. We celebrated Rachel's third birthday in June. I decided to hold a bbq this time round instead and spend the whole day preparing chicken wings, curry vegetables, potato salad, sangria etc etc.. it was quite a lot of fun but things would have gone better if there were more helping hands.. It was definitely not easy with a koala baby! Rachel had quite a lot of fun that she repeatedly request for bbqs.. hee hee...

For Dylan's birthday which just past, we had a simple dinner with my mum and dad at tung loks..Decided not to have a cake as miL is a firm believer that one should not celebrate birthdays twice. It was quite funny when wai po thank Dylan for the birthday treat! We also held a little birthday party for Dylan on 7 September 2009. I prepared nuggets, chicken drumlets, drinks, french bean salad, while my MIL prepared fried bee hoon and chicken.. it was a simple yet cosy party with the kids having fun with the Wii..

Dylan can already crawl very fast, have six teeth, can call Ah ma very accurately, calls mummy Ah mum, calls papa, able to climb down the bed... is very affectionate, especially towards mummy! Sadly tonight is the first night that my boy will not be sleeping beside me (no nursing tonight as well) as I have to stay over for work.. sniff sniff..

Rachel is totally diaper free for about a month now! Mummy is so proud of you Rachel! She is also starting to dislike her I can read classes.. I manage to find out that she was scolded by Teacher Veron for runnng around in class.. now she tells me that she wants to go for music class instead.. I also notice that she has a gift for drawing.. she can draw faces pretty well.. :)

We also just hired a domestic helper.. darling hubby is getting thinner by the day with all the housework that he has to manage, so we decided to outsource this part of our life, hopefully to free up more time for rest and kids.

Me... something exciting is going to happen in my life. I shall not divulge the secret.. but it is a dream come true... thank god for this.. :)

and lastly something to look forward to, the four of us are taking a vacation to sentosa this weekend... I need a break..

Kids sick

The past 2 weeks have been quite tiring. Dylan was suffering from a really bad cough and could not sleep at night. Soon after he got better, Rachel was down with fever. Just when I was joking with my colleagues that things were going back to "normal operation", Dylan's temperature went up again and he had diarhoeaa. We are that he must be allergic to the ginseng powder which I used to make ginseng chicken soup. And Rachel's dry cough got worse especially after Daddy ordered a large glass of orange juice with no ice at ichiban sushi for her. Her temperature went up to 37.8 in the middle of the night with a really bad cough.

We need to get an outdoor life.. Less shopping malls, more parks, less TV, more outdoor activities!!

Hubby's language of love

My hubby is a strange creature. He does not tell me that he loves me when I am working, reading, watching tv, feeding his son, reading a book to his daughter. He looks especially happy and indicates his affection for me only when I am doing housework, cleaning, sweeping, cooking, washing and tidying up the house. From the book, the language of love, there are six types of love languages.

I feel very loved when hubby brings me to go pak tor, for movies, nice meals (instead of lamenting how expensive the meals cost - he will order the cheapest item on the menu, making me feel guilty that I am squandering all the money away!). An occasional gift of handbag or wallet or diamonds will be nice (get the hint daddy!). Just as hubby feels very loved when I contribute to the household chores.

That's why we cannot get a maid, otherwise he will fall for the maid in no time.

Another milestone in toilet training

Rachel has been able to indicate her desire to wee wee in the middle of the night and nap for two consecutive times. Think this is indeed worth a small celebration. :) Hope she'll be 100% diaper free soon.

Dylan can sit!

Yeah! I can sit!

Yesterday was the first time Dylan sat in a high chair throughout dinner. He cannot sit fully yet but I think his ability to sit is developing fast. :) Dylan is clearly excited with his newly developed skill. The world is no longer up there but right in front of him!

Trapped in Lift

After our "late" night shopping at Jurong Point yesterday evening, we were extremely eagar to get home immediately as it is way past Dylan and Rachels' feed time and bed time.

We entered the lift at around 10.20 pm. Within two seconds, we felt a jerk as the lift came to an abrupt stop from the initial acceleration. We were trapped in the lift with another couple with a small boy about the age of Rachel, together with our NTUC trolley and stroller.

The little boy began to cry but his mother was calm and cheerful and assured him that rescue is on the way. She pressed the bell to request for immediate help.

In the first 10 minutes, everyone including Dylan were comfortable but it soon got a little hot. I noticed that Dylan was starting to perspire and he began to fuss. I can't blame him as it is one hour past his bedtime.

We were lucky to have a cheerful lady together to liven up the atmosphere. She seems more concerned buying 4D than to be concerned about being trapped in the lift. They also noticed that Rachel had a spiral at her forehead similar to her son. Coincidentally, they had the same birthdates as well on the 10/6/2006. What are the chances of being trapped in the lift with someone born on the same day with this unique "spiral" on the forehead?

Maybe it is God's way of telling me that it is time to buy 4D? What shall I buy? Their birthdates?

Ps: Rachel, I am blogging this entry so that in case this little becomes your boyfriend in the future, you would know that you have met him in Jurong Point lift when you were 3 years old.

Rachel's Kindness

I recently read in the papers that toddlers often show acts of kindness and concern which I could not agree more.

Whenever I said "ouch!", I would hear a little voice of concern,"Are you okay, Mummy?"

Today, Rachel demonstrated her desire to share. While eating her delicious curry puff, she decided to share with Dylan. "Mummy, I feed Dylan curry puff." Before I can do anything, I heard a cough and saw Dylan face turned red with eyes tearing. I don't know if I should feel happy or angry. But Rachel has since been educated that Dylan cannot take oily stuff.

Princess cake saga

"Mummy, I want a princess cake."
"Okay, Rachel, you can have it for your birthday."

For the next few days, Rachel relentless request for her princess cake from Daddy to the extent that she was requesting it every hour.

Daddy could not take it anymore, so he bought a tiny "Hello Kitty" cake from Polar cake shop to appease her. Luckily it worked and Rachel has forgotten about her princess cake since.

PS: Mummy has decided to get Rachel a Snow White cake on her birthday in June. :)

Conervsation with Rachel

We are delighted and amused by Rachel's improved ability to deduce things.. :)
"Daddy, do you have sticker on your back?"
"No."
"Daddy, so you can carry me?"

While on the way to the supermarket to buy bread, Rachel asked, "Daddy, where is your penis?" "In my pants." I cannot imagine how embarassing it will be when we are out with friends or relatives and she starts asking this question.

As I am not too happy that Gor Gor Ryan has taught Rachel the word, nei nei po, Mummy decided to teach Rachel the right terms. "Rachel, it is not nei nei po, it is called bra."
I was surprised, when she pointed to the Cinderalla yesterday night and said, "Mummy, Cinderella has bra?" I can only assume that Cinderella has indeed wore a bra underneath her evening gown, so I replied, "Yes, darling." "Mummy, Cinderella can feed the bird nei nei?" said Rachel pointed to the blue bird at the right hand corner of the picture. "No, darling, Cinderella cannot feed the bird nei nei because she does not have baby." "Fairy god mother give Cinderella baby."

Baby's desire to communicate

I recalled reading in Glenn Doman's book that every single sound that the baby makes is his way of communication.

Recently, Daddy had a overactive stomach and released gas while driving. Immediately, we heard "Ar... ah... " from Dylan. "Didi is complaining." I laughed.

Somehow, "good things" always come in multiples and Daddy went on to do it a total a four times and each time, the same response from Dylan came.

Well, the hypothesis is proven.

My little girl's first ambition

Three nights ago, while watching a commercial on F1 racing, Rachel exclaimed,"I want to go racing." At first I thought that she meant that she wanted to go and watch the F1 race, so I replied,"Ask Daddy to bring you there." So she again repeated her request to Daddy, "Daddy, I want to go racing," showing the action of driving a car at the same time. "I want car, pink and yellow."

It was then that I realised that Rachel has this aspiration of becoming a F1 driver in her pink and yellow racing car. Will she become the first lady F1 driver, we shall see.

Dylan's 7th Month Old and Rachel's 33 months!

Yesterday night, we noticed that Dylan is able to sit on the bed for one minute. Today, he was able to "crawl" towards Daddy's transformer. We have started to put Dylan in the walker and he no longer moves backwards only. His control of the walker has improved, moving sideways and forward.

Rachel is starting to speak more chinese after Daddy's painstaking efforts to speak maindarin to her. I noticed that her vocabulary has improved. She has started to express herself in sentences such as "this is fun!" "Because..... " She has also started her little learners class at I can read center in Jurong East. Mummy is glad that she is enjoying her class.

I have been spending more time with Dylan since he was borned. This is inevitable as I am breastfeeding him. Well, now it seems like there are two camps in our home. "Daddy, isn't Dylan cute?" "Rachel was also very cute when she was this age."

Rachel is especially attached to daddy. She does not allow Mummy to make milk for her, Mummy is not allowed to sleep on her bed and Mummy is not allowed to share her fishball noodles. Sign.. Mummy will do my best to spend more time with Rachel.

Dylan is able to recognise familiar faces and has a preference for the following people in the follow order:-
Ah Ma
Mummy
Wai Po
Daddy
Gong Gong

We know it because whenever he sees Ah Ma, he will jump onto Ah Ma but when for eg, Daddy tries to carry him, he will cry. He has definitely come a long way since the recognition of Mummy's voice when he was just 10 days old.

Holiday at Sentosa

Water fun at the hotel pool

Dylan fascinated by the fishes

Dylan enjoying his rock and roll on the hotel bed

We took our holiday at Sentosa on 28 March - 30 March 2009. We were very priviledged to have Wai Po and Wai Gong with us for a night.

Both Rachel and Dylan had a great time lazing at the beach, swimming in the hotel pool and visiting the underwater world. Dylan was especially fascinated by the fishes of different shapes and sizes.

Finally it was time to go home but we forgot to inform Rachel in advance that we were going home on Monday. Oops.. the poor girl could not accept the fact that the holiday was over and she was devastated.

We are looking forward to our next holiday at Sentosa.

Lost!

Sign.. I lost all the 33 posts which I've painstakingly created in 2008. I can't retrieve them back.. seems like deleting the posts is worse than deleting the blog.

Rachel's getting cheeky

Rachel's linguistic ability is growing which also reflects her cheeky character.

In the morning a few days ago, I was about to put Dylan into the stroller and she protest with a cry and her frown.
"What's wrong Rachel? Why can't Didi sit in the stroller?'"
"Because.. " Rachel paused to think for a while, " the stroller is dirty."

In the evening a few nights ago, Rachel was playing a fool on the bed as usual and Daddy came in. Before Daddy could say anything, Rachel imitated Daddy's stern voice, "Go and sleep! Go and Sleep!

Silly thing done

Things seem to go wrong for me today. I did a silly thing just now, thinking that I am clearing the items which are for editing, I deleted all my posts!! Now, I have no idea on how I can get them back.. Sign..
All my posts and memories of Rachel and Dylan...
